In the same way that businessmen/women wear suits, doctors/scientists wear scrubs, blue-collar workers wear high visibility clothing, and sports people wear corresponding clothing or equipment, etc.
Is there anything that the philosopher possesses? As in general with Stoics, there are no clothes or identifiers to prove what we practice or learn; they have only their mind and character as their outfits that represents who they are and what they practice, so they wear it and wear it well to prove what we learn and practice.
It should always be kept clean, |
the Stoic philosopher wears their mind and character like a badge of honor, always keeping it pristine and true to their code of conduct. This is akin to keeping one's body clean and groomed. We may not always be able to see the effects of our grooming on the outside, but it will be reflected in our attitude, demeanor, and overall health. In the same way, keeping one’s mind and character clean is an integral part of the Stoic philosophy, and will be evident to those around us.
